In the first two-day matches of the season, Yea Tigers wrapped up a six-wicket victory over Eastern Hill at Kings Park on Saturday.
After limiting the Eagles to 142 in the opening day of the clash, the Tigers returned to the crease off the back of their one-day premiership to easily chase the total in just over 50 overs.
All-rounder Cam Armstrong was again the hero with the bat, as he raced to 83 not out for the innings.
The Eagles started their attack in promising form, dismissing Dan O’Dwyer and Damon Malcolm for 2-20.
But it was the partnership of Armstrong and Ben Tarran (31) which saw the Tigers reach the gold at the end of the tunnel, though Eagles bowler Ben Bryant (3-27) did his best to turn the tide for the home side.
● Backing up a formidable turn with the bat, Tallarook's attack made light work of Kilmore's batting order to remain undefeated.
After Tallarook posted 9-302 on the opening day, Kilmore had the undeniable up-hill battle of following suit.
But it was the work of Tallarook's attack, led by Will Dundon (5-63) and skipper Lachlan Watts (3-31) which saw Kilmore dismissed for 172.
Kilmore's opening duo Josh Buttler (41) and Ashley Lovick (38) got the visitors off to a solid start, but the line-up quickly crumbled as Tallarook worked its way through the order.
● In what was their closest losing margin of the season, favour didn't fortune Seymour in their loss to Broadford as the Maroons fell 39 runs short of a maiden victory on Saturday.
Chasing a total of 221, an early order batting collapse did little favours for Seymour in their quest with the bat.
Simon Van Duinen (40) and Damian Murphy (25) produced a solid mid-order partnership to get Seymour to 6-123 before Van Duinen was dismissed, while Cody Hogan (39) pushed late in the innings to keep the Maroons within a sniff of a win.
Broadford's Braden Hickey reined in four wickets for the day, including two catches off his own ball, while Jeremy Bradshaw (3-35) also impressed in attack.
● Round eight kicks of this weekend, with Broadford hosting Eastern Hill at Harley Hammond Reserve, Kilmore travels to Yea to face the Tigers, while Seymour have another tough challenge against Tallarook in day one of a two-day contest.
