The Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn’s annual Carols In The Park, delivered alongside the combined churches of Seymour, is slated to spread the jolly cheer in the community.
Lions president Regina Young said the event was always well received in town.
“For the Lions, this tradition is a much-loved event that offers us a sense of gratitude for the wonderful community we live in, and to show our appreciation for the support we receive,” Ms Young said.
“For the families, I think this tradition is important — I would hope the community marks this date on their calendars every year to not only show their support for the Lions Club, but to take advantage of the opportunity to come together in a perfect location and celebrate.”
Having been staged by the club for more than 54 years, the event has become popular within the community, marking the start of the festive season.
Held on Sunday, December 14, the afternoon, commencing at 4pm, will involve free slushies, popcorn and face painting for the kids, as well as food vans and a classic barbecue.
The main concert will begin at 6pm, with local acts, such as Mitchell Shire Concert Band, Shanae Watson, the Central Church Band, Seymour Community Choir and local school choirs, to fill the air with festive sounds.
The event would not be complete without a visit from Santa, who is expected to arrive on a fire truck with lollies for the kids.
Aside from the fun, the day, like all Lions Club events, will be about community support, with a donation from the proceeds to be made to the Seymour Junior Netball Association.
Ms Young said, with this being the finale of the local Lions’ events for 2025, the club’s members were looking forward to a relaxing reset.
“As our last activity for the year, we look forward to finishing with a successful event and then taking a well-earned break for a few weeks before heading into 2026 to begin our preparations for our biggest fundraiser, the Seymour Show & Shine, in March, followed by another full year of serving our community,” she said.
