A 40 minute drive from Deniliquin, the community of Wakool offers a full day of entertainment as part of this event.
Horse events will be hosted throughout the day, starting from 9am.
Some of the best riders around will compete across a number of show rings, with show jumping, novelty events and breeds competitions all featuring.
There will also be a ring for Pony Club and TOPSY competitors.
The show then swings in to full scale action from about 4pm, when the pavilion opens.
Judges will have assessed all the entries before the doors open.
Pop in and check out the local talents, and see who picked up a prize.
The evening entertainment begins from 4.30pm, with plenty of activities for children and adults alike.
The Lego competition also begins at 4.30pm.
‘‘Competing in teams of two, Lego builders will be given time to design and create a master piece for judging.
Make sure to wear your finest autumn apparel and participate in the fancy dress competition from 5pm — your outfit might even win you a best dressed prize.
Remote control car races will also keep you busy, and there will also be some great live music.
District musician James Hollands will perform a children’s concert early in the evening, before switching to tunes that will have children and adults alike tapping their toes and looking for the dance floor.
Highlights of the show include the annual Ginger Lowry Classic Aussie vs Kiwi Shearing Competition, and the Man vs Horse vs Horsepower race.
Committee member Stephanie Anthony said both are spectacles to behold.
‘‘People just love the shearing competition,’’ she said.
‘‘This is our third year, and in the first two years the Aussies have been absolutely flogged. Will 2022 be their year?
‘‘The Man vs Horse vs Horsepower pits a runner against a horse and rider and a motorbike.
‘‘It is quite a spectacle, and doesn’t always go the way you think.
‘‘Last year the horse came in first, but our runner came in only one second behind.’’
The Wakool Show is hosted at the Showgrounds and Recreation Reserve in Dampier St, Wakool.
Entry is $10, with children under 12 free if accompanied by an adult.
