Provided by the Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group, the aim of the inaitive is to help parents, carers and educators access resources around supporting children and young people of all ages with their mental health and wellbeing.
It was set up as part of Deni MHAG’s COVID-19 Community Connection and Wellbeing Program - a more than 12 month program for which Deni MHAG received funding.
As this program is coming to an end, Deni MHAG member Lourene Liebenberg said the community is being asked to indicate whether it would like to see Families Stronger Together in Deni continue.
“We will be doing a short survey soon to find out what the community would like to happen to this group on social media, so we can work out where to go next with this project,” she said.
“In the meantime, we are working towards improving the resources on the Deni MHAG website.
“It will incorporate a lot of the websites, applications, and programs that families have been introduced to since August last year.“
The website has a searchable directory, listing a large range of resources.
Some of these are fact sheets, websites that offer online support and parenting classes, and helplines.
Some even offer telephone support and counselling.
