So far, thanks to the unrelenting support of the Seymour community and local businesses, organisers have raised an incredible $82,500.
This year, organisers expect that total to rise to more than $100,000.
For the past two years, the funds raised have gone directly to Lower Hume Palliative Care, which will continue with September’s event.
Remember Me committee member Melissa Parker said the service covered Mitchell and Murrindindi shires and part of Strathbogie Shire.
“Money raised in the first year of the event was donated to broader cancer charities, before we decided to go local and keep the funds within the local community,” she said.
“Each year we have a theme and an artist creates a piece to this theme which is auctioned off on the day.
“We also label wine and merchandise with this art.
“This year’s artist is Zaza Douglas and the theme is growth.”
Zaza is a multidisciplinary artist based in north-east Victoria, whose creative practice spans painting, ceramics and textiles.
Deeply influenced by the surrounding natural environment, Zaza’s work draws from the textures, colours and rhythms of the bush.
Ms Parker said attendees could expect a very similar format to what they had experienced in the past.
The event will once again start off at Wine X Sam, then attendees will walk up to Seymour Racecourse for a sit-down meal.
“We've been really fortunate with the weather so far and we’ve always been able to host it outside on the lawn at the racecourse,” Ms Parker said.
“We always start at Wine X Sam with appetisers and champagne.
“Then it’s a sit-down lunch at the racecourse with beautiful local wines supported by some of our local wineries.
“We’ll have raffles and auctions on the day including the major auction of the art.
“Tickets always sell out ahead of the event, so if you are able to come along, keep an eye out for the release of tickets.
“We don’t have an official date (for ticket release) as of today, but it will be soon.”
