More than 19,000 music lovers and ute enthusiasts descended on Deniliquin for the 28th Deni Ute Muster, embracing two days of entertainment and competition despite challenging weather conditions.
Many arrived early, taking advantage of Thursday’s additional camping day to settle in ahead of the main program.
A major addition to this year’s event was The Grand Pavilion, which proved a popular attraction throughout the weekend.
The venue officially opened with Thursday night’s pre-Muster concert featuring The Ultimate Superstars of Country tribute band.
The concert doubled as a fundraiser for Deniliquin High School’s P&C, supporting the school’s recovery following last year’s arson event.
The event sold out well in advance and, combined with other fundraising initiatives held before and during the Muster, is believed to have generated tens of thousands of dollars.
More details, and a confirmed fundraising tally, will be included in a future edition.
The Muster also continued its long-standing support of local organisations, with Deniliquin Can Assist and the Country Education Fund Edward River Region among the beneficiaries.
Can Assist volunteers ran the ever-popular yabby races, while the Tradie Challenge Auction raised $3,110 for CEFERR through the sale of chicken coops built by competitors in Friday's rain-soaked conditions.
Numerous other community groups also benefited through volunteer work and fundraising activities across the site.
Entertainment in The Grand Pavilion across Friday and Saturday included comedian Jimmy Rees, 360 ALLSTARS and Trash Test Dummies, drawing strong crowds throughout the weekend.
Wet weather greeted patrons on Friday, with rain falling intermittently throughout the day.
While the conditions created plenty of mud and saw gumboots become the footwear of choice, they did little to dampen spirits.
Music remained the focus, with first-time Muster performers Ethan Miller, Zac & George and Tyler Braden joining returning favourites Tori Darke, Sheppard, Taylor Moss and Lee Kernaghan on the main stage.
Saturday featured the return of the iconic Blue Singlet Count, with 4,116 Musterers taking part in the tradition.
While shy of last year’s record 4,961 participants, the sea of blue singlets remained one of the event’s defining moments.
The ute count reached 8,869 vehicles.
Although down on the record 10,811 utes recorded in 2025, the result once again confirmed Deniliquin's standing as Australia's ute capital, attracting enthusiasts from across the nation.
As the sun set on Saturday evening, performances from Austin Mackay, Bella Mackenzie, Ian Moss, Troy Cassar-Daley, Amber Lawrence, Tones and I and Casey Barnes kept crowds entertained before Furnace and the Fundamentals delivered a high-energy finale.
Deni Ute Muster general manager Vicky Lowry said the 2026 event highlighted everything that makes the Muster unique.
“Every year the Muster brings something different, and 2026 certainly gave us a bit of everything from rain and mud to sunshine, but none of it dampened the incredible spirit of our Musterers,” Mrs Lowry said.
“To welcome 19,000 people to Deniliquin and see them embrace the weekend, regardless of the weather, was fantastic.
“There were gumboots, muddy utes and plenty of wet weather gear, but most importantly there were smiles everywhere.
“We were particularly proud to introduce the Grand Pavilion this year.
“Seeing it filled throughout the weekend for everything from comedy and family entertainment, to Thursday night’s Ultimate Superstars of Country show, was a great result and has given us another exciting platform to build on in future years.”
Mrs Lowry said an enormous amount of effort goes into putting on the ute Muster every year, from a dedicated year-round staff and committee and a huge team of volunteers.
“An event of this scale simply doesn’t happen without an enormous team behind it,” she siad.
“I cannot thank our staff, board, volunteers, community groups, contractors, emergency services, artists, sponsors and partners enough for everything they contributed before, during and after the event.
“Finally, thank you to every person who travelled to Deniliquin and supported the 2026 Deni Ute Muster.
“Whether this was your first Muster or your 28th, you became part of what makes this event so unique, music, utes, community and mateship.”
The Deni Ute Muster - proudly supported by the NSW Government through Destination NSW - will return on October 1 and 2, 2027.
