The Mayrung, Myrtle Park and Birganbigil NSW Rural Fire Service brigades all responded to reports of a house fire, after a burning log rolled out of a fireplace.
The homeowner was able to extinguish the fire before emergency crews arrived, helping to prevent further damage.
Members from the Mayrung Brigade arrived on scene shortly after and assessed the situation, deeming the area safe.
NSW Fire + Rescue crews were also called to respond to the incident, but were stood down before arriving at the property.
The Mid Murray RFS said the incident serves as a timely reminder for residents to take care when using fireplaces during the cooler months.
You should ensure fireplace screens are in place, and keep combustible materials away from open flames.
