On Sunday, September 21, AusNet will be undertaking planned works and network upgrades across the region to improve the energy network and power reliability in Seymour.
To safely complete this work, AusNet will need to turn the power off from 8.30am to about 4.30pm, impacting around 700 customers.
AusNet general manager of network operations and delivery Ross Young said these works were essential to maintain a safe and reliable network.
“We’ll be replacing cross arms, which is the horizontal piece on a power pole that holds the lines up, a power pole, and over one kilometre of powerlines between Oak St and Delatite Rd,” he said.
“By undertaking multiple jobs at once, there will be less planned outages, reducing the impact to customers.”
Customers affected should have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.
AusNet’s tips to prepare for being without power
- Charge battery packs so they’re ready to power your mobile phones
- If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water
- Make sure you can open your garage or fence manually, if they are electric
- Fill an esky with ice to keep your food and drinks cool
- Do not bring outdoor gas appliances inside your home
- Keep at least one light on in the house so you know when your electricity is back on
There will be road closures and traffic detours in place between 7am and 5pm so these works can be safely undertaken.
“We are undertaking this work on a Sunday to reduce the impact on local businesses and decrease the number of trucks that will need to navigate the road detour with residential traffic,” Mr Young said.
“We know that it’s inconvenient to be without electricity so we’re completing this work in one day to minimise the impact on the community.
“We thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we make these upgrades to the network.”
