There are plans for a new solar farm and to add solar panels and batteries to the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Mitchell Community Energy has been instrumental in Mitchell Shire Council’s Climate Emergency Action Plan.
MCE had its annual general meeting last week, where outgoing president Brad Giblin provided details on the plans for next year.
The solar farm is proposed for the old Seymour tip site.
MCE plans to install heat pumps in the swimming centre to replace expensive gas heaters.
It is also working with Seymour Coaches to plan solar and battery systems for the electric buses launched in November this year.
Council sustainability officer Brendan Garrett has discussed collaboration with MCE on implementing the action plan.
The group also expressed an open invitation for new members to join next year.
“MCE would be pleased to welcome new members or participants in this important and challenging field,” Mr Giblin said.
“We would be very pleased to help any resident or business with navigating through the sometimes complex procedure of moving to renewable and cheaper energy.”
