Guitarists across Murrindindi Shire and surrounds recently gathered to engage in several workshops in Yea and Alexandra.
All to perfect their skills for the upcoming High Voltage concert.
The local artists began attending workshops on Friday, August 22, and are set to have their final one on Friday, September 5.
“There were 19 attendees for the first weekend of workshops and more guitarists joined in for the following weekend, including students from local high schools,” High Voltage local producer Cynthia Lim said.
“We’re thrilled to have attendees ranging in ages from 14 to 80 years old.”
Internationally acclaimed artist and musician Joseph O’Farrell and guitar educator Chris Green spent the weekend in the region to help the local guitarists shape their musical skills during the first workshops.
While there is just one weekend left for the performers to hone their talents, anyone considering taking part in the concert is welcome to register and get involved.
“It is not too late to learn the showstopper songs, and I’m happy to discuss the process with anyone interested,” Ms Lim said.
“The skills of the guitarists that attended the first weekend ranged from those who play actively in bands to those who pick up a guitar every now and then to those who haven’t played anything for decades.
“All are invited to participate.”
The big event will take place on Sunday, September 7 at 4pm.
Entry to the event, held at the Yea Shire Hall, is free and everyone across the region is invited to enjoy the final performance and support the rock stars.
No tickets are required for the concert, which is being led by Yea Arts Inc and supported by Murrindindi Shire Council.
