With nominations closing soon, Moira Shire Council is seeking to recognise outstanding community contributors through its Australia Day Awards.
The awards feature six categories including Citizen of the Year, Junior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Community Organisation of the Year, and Arts, Culture and/or Environment Project of the Year.
Chair administrator Graeme Emonson said it was important to acknowledge community service.
“The Australia Day Awards are a great opportunity for us to celebrate people who do a lot of work behind the scenes to keep groups running, or are achieving something special in their chosen fields,” he said.
“We know people don’t do what they do for recognition, but as a community, it’s really important that we shine a light on their achievements.”
Winners will be celebrated at local ceremonies throughout Moira Shire on Australia Day 2026.
Nominations can be submitted through the council website at tinyurl.com/5wz4vmky before Friday, November 21.
