Dubbed “the best trivia show around... no questions asked”, Cav’s Quiz has a lengthy history, with ‘quizmaster’ Damian Cavanagh having presented shows from Williamstown to Wodonga for 20 years.
In the past, Mr Cavanagh has worked closely with the Seymour RSL, aiding the fundraising efforts of the club.
“Cav’s Quiz has a history of working alongside the Seymour RSL,” Mr Cavanagh said.
“In 2022, we managed to raise over $3000 for those affected by flooding, an achievement we were very proud of.”
This time, the event is set to raise funds for much-needed upgrades at the club.
Before the recent federal election, the Seymour RSL sub branch was promised $900,000 by Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell, if a coalition government were elected.
As Labor eventually formed government, the club is now looking for other ways to fundraise.
“Our building is not acceptable at the moment — it’s just not user-friendly for community groups,” Seymour RSL junior vice-president Jake Williamson said.
“This is to help fundraise for the extension that we need to do.
“Everything we do now is to go towards the extension.”
Regular quizzers know what to expect during Cav’s Quiz.
“For those who are regulars to a Cav’s Quiz, they know I enjoy using anagrams for questions, so anyone attending the quiz at the RSL should brush up on their anagram skills,” Mr Cavanagh said.
“The best way to approach any trivia night is to make sure you have a team of subject specialists, to share the load.
“But don’t get too serious, we’re here for some fun and some fundraising.”
The RSL, on 2 Station St, will host Cav’s Quiz on Saturday, July 26.
Doors will open at 5.30pm, with the trivia kicking off at 6.30pm.
Teams of up to 10 are welcomed to join, and tickets are $10 per person.
Drinks will be available at bar prices, and Country Boy Pizza will be there to deliver cheesy, wood-fired deliciousness all night long.

Before attending, any newcomers should note Cav’s two very important rules.
“I love interacting with the crowd, but you have to lay down the law from the get-go,” Mr Cavanagh said.
“Rule One: Cav is always right.
“Rule Two: If you’re not happy, see rule number one.”
