Mobile community recovery hub visiting Bunbartha

Shepparton’s community recovery hub, set up at the Senior Citizens Centre in response to the floods, is transitioning to a mobile outreach model from Wednesday, November 23.

Greater Shepparton City Council and community recovery service representatives have been operating from the hub to provide assistance for health and wellbeing, food and material relief, insurance, housing and legal matters.

Council director of community Louise Mitchell said the hub was adapting to the recovery needs of the community by going mobile.

“The hub provided a link for community members to access a wide range of recovery support services,” she said.

“The past couple of weeks has seen an incredible effort from organisations, agencies and volunteers in supporting community.

“As we move through the phases of recovery, it is important that we adapt to the needs of local people, so now we are going directly to communities.”

Council’s website is also providing a virtual recovery hub, offering support information, and a schedule of outreach events will be available there as well.

The first outreach recovery session will be held in Bunbartha at 5.30pm on Friday, November 25 at the Bunbartha Community Centre, while a community barbecue is under way.

Council officers and several agencies will be there to discuss recovery needs and provide support in navigating services and payments.

The Flood Recovery Hotline is 1800 560 760. It provides assistance with clean-up services and finding a place to stay, and financial, mental health and wellbeing support.
