Locals jumped at the chance to snap a picture with the renowned three-handled cup, which was first presented in 1919.
Goulburn Options drew barrier one in the national sweep that will see them win $50,000 if the horse from barrier one wins the race.
Tallarook Hotel proprietor Adam Knight said the Cup visit to the Tallarook Hotel was very successful over the two sessions with local school groups and Goulburn Options attending the afternoon session.
“The second session had 70 guests for a sit-down dinner. Gerry Ryan and former foreman to Bart Cummings, Joe Agresta, were guest speakers.
“More than $6000 was raised over the evening for The Tallarook Mechanics Institute and Goulburn Options.”
Goulburn Options chief executive Rosey Panelli said the organisation was thrilled to be nominated as the local charity in the sweep.
“Everyone connected with Goulburn Options is very excited and looking forward to cheering on our horse, although the thought that we might win seems like a dream. We are grateful to the VRC and Lexus for creating this generous initiative.
“This initiative has sprung from the Tallarook community and Adam Knight at the Tallarook Hotel. We thank everyone involved for making this possible and it is only fitting that many members of our Goulburn Options community plan to watch the race at the Tallarook Hotel.
“We feel that regardless of the result on cup day, we are already winners. Having people in the community who have chosen to put us forward as the representative charity and to say the work we do is important enough to have their backing for this event is immensely encouraging.
“It gives us confidence knowing the community is behind us and prepared to demonstrate that in such a practical way. Community support will help us to support our participants to live the biggest life possible.”
