Dawson featured in Kyabram District’s interleague match against Golden Rivers, though the team failed to come away with a win.
Kyabram District was unable to replicate its flurry of goals and stingy defence from the opening term, conceding 42 goals after quarter-time as Golden Rivers clinched a 50-33 win at Shepparton East’s Central Park.
‘‘We struggled to get the ball into our attacking third, we broke down and I thought they crowded and defended really well across the midcourt and we threw the ball into their hands a few too many times,’’ Kyabram District co-coach Jen Smith said.
‘‘But there were some great performances out there today, a group of really fantastic girls and having never played together I thought they did a great job.’’
Nagambie teen Mia Thomson was also named in Kyabram District’s Under-17 side, which fell just short of victory in a stunning double overtime game against Golden Rivers, with the away side pinching a 34-36 win.
Meanwhile, Avenel youngster Monique Purchase lined up in the Under-15s, and Seymour Lions duo Rani Curry and Ashlyn Webster featured in Goulburn Valley’s Under-17s and Under-15s respectively.
