On June 19, data was released for the year ending March 2025.
Across Mitchell Shire, there has been a 26.5 per cent rise in incidents reported compared to the number revealed in the previous data period ending in March, 2024.
Of the towns across the shire, Seymour was the second-highest on the list of most-reported incidents.
In the 12-month period, there has been an increase of 95 reports in town, with 1026 criminal incidents reported compared to the 931 of the year previous.
Throughout Mitchell, the top reported offence subgroup was ‘Other theft’, which encompasses a range of thefts not covered under the six other theft offence subgroups.
There were 437 reports of this offence subgroup over the period, a rise of 154 since the year previous.
The other top subgroups included Breach family violence order, Criminal damage, Steal from a motor vehicle and FV Common assault, all of which had also risen over the 12 months.
Around the region, Nagambie saw an increase of 14 reports, while Yea, despite having the highest number of reports of towns in Murrindindi Shire, had a decrease of 26 reports compared to the 2024 period.
