The draft will be open for community consideration until August 24.
The Community Local Law helps council manage issues affecting public safety, community amenity and the use of public spaces across the municipality.
The proposed update follows a comprehensive review to ensure the Local Law remains current and reflects legal requirements, community expectations and council priorities.
Feedback from earlier consultation highlighted the need for clearer requirements, simpler permit processes and less red tape. The draft has been updated in response, with changes to a number of areas.
Strathbogie Shire mayor Scott Jeffery said the consultation period marked the final stage of a review that had already included extensive community and stakeholder engagement.
“We've received valuable feedback from our community throughout this review process, and I thank everyone who has contributed so far,” Cr Jeffery said.
“Many people told us they wanted a Local Law that is easier to understand, simpler to apply and focused on the issues that matter most to our community.
“In response, we've made changes to areas such as permit processes, events, footpath trading, animal management and camping provisions, while maintaining important protections for our community.'
Feedback received during the exhibition period will be considered before the Community Local Law 2026 is brought back to council for adoption.
This will be the last opportunity for the community to provide feedback on the draft.
“We encourage everyone to review the draft and let us know whether we've struck the right balance before it is considered for adoption,” Cr Jeffery said.
