Run the Course is back for its fourth year and the challenge is on after a blistering pace was set at the 2019 event.
In a sizzling 27 minutes and 31 seconds Syd Voogt made it back-to-back wins at last year’s event.
He led home a field of 188 runners (and walkers) who covered the course in perfect conditions.
Taryn Furletti had the women’s best overall time in 30 minutes and nine seconds.
So whether you’re looking to break some records, go for a leisurely stroll in the countryside or just a fun day out for the family, Run the Course is the event for you.
The event is a major fundraiser for Seymour Golf Club and an event organisers hope will encourage more people to pick up some clubs and try the game.
The action starts on the first tee and competitors can run or walk down the fairways, following the order of the course layout and finishing on the 18th hole.
The course is undulating for the first nine holes and flat for the bottom nine.
Competitors can complete three laps of the course for a half marathon, 7.5 km for one lap of the 18-hole course or 3.5 km for the nine-hole course.
Organiser Irene Davey said the golf course was in a beautiful bush land setting surrounded by native flora and fauna, with an abundance of wildlife to view as you run or walk.
“The event will have a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where anyone can participate, from the seasoned athlete to first time walkers and runners,” she said.
“Registered teams of 20 or more will receive up to $300 to be presented to their favourite sporting body or charity. School parents and friend groups can also enter teams in this event.
“This is a great opportunity to raise some additional funds and have fun at the same time. You can nominate your sporting body or charity when you register.
“Run the Course is suitable for all levels of fitness. You can walk or run, whatever you feel comfortable with. Although events are timed, there is no time limit and prams are welcome as well.”
Free golf activities, a free jumping castle and free preschool dash will also be provided on the day to ensure every age group is entertained.
It’s on March 9 with check-in and timing device collection from 6.30 am. The half marathon begins at 7.30 am, the 3 km and 7.5 km at 8.30 am and the preschool dash at 9.30 am.
Participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of their event to allow time to register and warm up.
