The road closure implemented between O’Sheas Rd and the Dry Creek Rd and Nannys Creek Rd intersection has been removed, but some traffic management remains.
The final road sealing work has been delayed due to wet weather and is planned to be completed by Monday, July 25.
Traffic management will be in place on Kilmore East Rd and drivers are asked to take care and follow all directional signage.
The bridge has been strengthened to operate without a load limit and widened to provide larger traffic lanes and shoulders.
Bridge barriers have been added and associated works to the bridge surrounds completed. The road on either end of the bridge has also been widened.
The $1.1 million project received $400,000 from the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program and $700,000 from council.
Mayor Bill Chisholm said the works were necessary to cater for an increase in load the bridge was expected to carry in the future.
“Kilmore East is a busy area and traffic is only going to increase as our shire continues to grow,” he said.
“This bridge upgrade is an important part of preparing for that growth and making sure we have the required infrastructure in place.
“I’m very thankful for the patience and understanding shown by the residents and the broader community during this project.
“We understand it caused inconvenience and we appreciate everyone working co-operatively with council while we complete these important works.”
