Each Wednesday from noon, the local radio station comes alive with the energy of Goulburn Options participants, hosting the popular GO Radio Show.
From shout-outs and entertaining chats, to a delicately curated list of songs, it’s no wonder why the station is inundated with calls from fans during the program and the team gets recognised in the street for their distinct voices.
But, the GO Radio Show offers much more than entertainment.

Support worker Tiff Goodman, who’s in the studio every week, said the opportunity had been incredible for the participants.
“Every week, they just turn up with such enthusiasm to be part of the radio community, and their wider community,” she said.
“I see that the confidence that is built through the program doing GO Radio is amazing, and their skill building is really amazing, too.
“They just bring their smiles, and they bring the laughs, and they are in charge — it’s their show, and they bring it every week.”
The Telegraph was invited to go on air with the team, as well as SeymourFM president Damian Sleep, who supports the program, on Wednesday, November 19.
The GO hosts spoke all about their love for radio, with participants such as Di, whose voice comes alive when she’s behind the mic, saying, “it’s fun; it’s good being here”.
Along with Di, Mikey, Lucas (Dipper), Brennan and Alan were in the studio running the show.
Mikey has been given the opportunity to run a section of the show each week, with help from SeymourFM’s president.

For Mikey, the opportunity has been pivotal in developing a range of new skills.
“Half of why I love doing radio is, at the moment, I’m doing something new,” he said.
“On a Wednesday, we have this thing where Damo goes on until lunch, and then after lunch, I jump in the pilot seat and fly the plane until the end with Damo’s assistance.”
Dipper, who’s notorious for his spot-on Elvis impression, said it was his passion for history and spotlighting music from the 1950s and ’60s that brought him to air, while Brennan said he enjoyed giving shout-outs to family and friends, and talking all things footy.
Alan, who has been the longest-serving GO host, added it was the connection forged on air that kept his passion for GO Radio alive.
“Why I like it is because I meet a lot of different people on the radio, and it gives me something to do,” he said.

Goulburn Options program manager Kacie Graham said the team was able to be hands-on thanks to Damian’s support.
“They each have that valued role, which I think everyone likes in their life,” she said.
“(Damian) has absolutely flipped the show on its head; rather than it being a show for the guys, and they just come along for the ride, they’re learning not only the equipment, but to think on their feet, as well.”
Tiff added that Damian was beyond valued by the participants, with the GO team recently handing him a certificate of appreciation for his efforts.
“Week in, week out, Damian turns up for us at the GO Radio Show, and he supports the team every week,” she said.
“Damian is led by them, and he just supports them: it’s their show.”
