Five people were taken to hospital after a crash involving a truck and several vehicles on the Hume Hwy on Friday, April 17.
Ambulance Victoria has confirmed two adults and two children were taken by road ambulance to Northeast Health in Wangaratta by road ambulance.
A man in his 50s was taken by road ambulance to Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton with minor injuries.
All five were in a stable condition when transported to hospital.
EARLIER: All lanes are closed on the Hume Hwy on Friday, April 17, due to a serious collision south of Violet Town involving a truck and several vehicles.
The crash happened on the Hume Hwy just south of Violet Town around 1.30pm.
All lanes are closed and detours have been set up for all traffic, with significant delays in both directions approaching the collision scene.
The highway is closed between Harry’s Creek Rd and Quarry Rd, at Violet Town.
Drivers heading north (away from Melbourne) should detour from the Hume Fwy in Seymour using the Goulburn Valley Hwy to Shepparton. Then use the Midland Hwy from Shepparton to Benalla to re-join the Hume Fwy.
Drivers heading south (toward Melbourne) should detour at Violet Town and use the Murchison-Violet Town Rd through Miepoll to meet the Goulburn Valley Hwy, then travel south to Seymour to re-join the Hume Fwy.
There are areas of roadworks along the detour routes. Motorists should obey all sign posted speed limits, drive to the conditions, and stay alert for emergency services.
Victoria Police and emergency crews are attending and the Hume Fwy will re-open only when it is safe to do so.
The closure is expected to be in place for a significant period.
