The review, undertaken by the Victorian Electoral Commission, is known as an electoral representation review and will examine Mitchell Shire Council’s electoral structure, including the number of councilors, whether the council should remain subdivided into wards, and if subdivided, the number of wards, ward boundaries, and the number of councillors per ward.
The review will not consider a council’s external boundaries or whether it should be combined with another council (or separated).
Anyone interested in finding out more about the review is encouraged to attend a public information session.
The sessions will be held at:
● 5pm on November 12 at Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, Chittick Park, Pollard St, Seymour.
● 7.30pm on November 12 at the Wallan Family and Children’s Centre, corner of Queen and Stanley streets, Wallan.
● 7pm on November 13 at the Kilmore Library, John Taylor Room, 12 Sydney St, Kilmore.

The VEC will release its preliminary report, with options for the council’s electoral structure, on February 12, 2020.
Any changes to the electoral structure of Mitchell Shire Council will apply at the next general election in 2020.
