While ‘Little Ray of Giving’ has been running nationally for 13 years, this is the third year the Rochester branch has taken part.
The initiative calls on community members to help ensure everyone has a merry Christmas this year by donating a gift.
Ray White director Rob Hosking said it was a chance to give back to the wider community.
“There's always some kids doing it tough, so we always like to put in for that, and we top it up with some presents ourselves. You’ve got to give back, that’s what it’s all about, isn't it?” he said.
“Christmas is all about kids and family, and it's just good to be able to share all that.
“It's amazing how people come in here every year, and they’re happy to give.”
Donations suitable for babies, children, teenagers, parents, caregivers and even pets can be placed under the Christmas tree at the Ray White office until Tuesday, December 16.
In previous years, the initiative has collected between 50 and 60 presents, including children’s books, dog food, socks, toys, arts and craft sets and more.
The gifts will then be collected by Rochester Neighbourhood House and delivered to families in time for Christmas
