CFA deputy chief officer for the North East region Gavin Thompson said the easing of restrictions was due to a number of favourable factors in some areas.
“Recent fires in these areas have shown less intensity due to some recent rainfall,” he said.
“Nights are becoming increasingly cool, and we are seeing dew in the mornings that further reduces our fire risk.”
The FDP will end for CFA Districts 12, 13, 22 and 17, encompassing other shires across the Goulburn Valley, including Greater Shepparton City Council.
Residents travelling to other parts of Victoria are reminded to remain vigilant.
CFA District 22 Assistant Chief Fire Officer Rohan Taylor said that while the FDP was coming to an end in some areas, it was still important to remain vigilant.
While the Fire Danger Period will come to an end, it is still important that residents check the local conditions are safe for any burn-off they are considering undertaking.
“You must register your burn-offs, check weather conditions and follow local council laws and regulations,” Mr Taylor said.
“You are legally responsible for safe burning all year round, failure to monitor and prevent escapes may result in legal action.
“Registering your burn-off ensures that if somebody reports smoke, the incident will be crosschecked with the burn-off register.”
Landowners can register their burn-off online at firepermits.vic.gov.au/
