Now regarded as the benchmark for rural and regional touring, the 48th edition of the not-for-profit music tour is presented by veteran festival producer Woodfordia Inc.
It pays homage to the huge histories of country halls, which were once the only spot in town for dances, balls, weddings and funerals.
These spaces remain central to community life, hosting meetings, classes, workshops and shows.
Within the Festival of Small Halls model, each community invites the tour to stop by, often hosting community meals, barbecues or cake spreads alongside the concerts.
The tour will come to the Avenel Memorial Hall on Saturday, March 14.
Headliner Mythen is no stranger to Australian audiences, having played multiple Byron Bay Blues Festivals and major folk festivals across the country.
Her latest release, Little Bones, gained global recognition, including a 2020 JUNO nomination for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and seven Music PEI 2020 nominations with two wins.
Cronin is an Australian folk-rock artist whose songs hold a mirror to the human condition.
Raised in a beat-up van by a clown and a textile artist, he has spent 15 years roaming festivals and stages across Europe and Australia.
His latest album, Jester In A Mess, explores fatherhood, memory and creative life.
“I'm so looking forward to being back on the road in Australia,” Cronin said.
“I grew up traversing the country in my parents’ beat-up yellow Toyota Hiace top-top van, so I'm excited to be out on those roads again.”
The Festival of Small Halls’ Autumn Tour starts on Friday, February 27, at the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre, continuing through 12 Victorian communities before finishing at Thule’s Caldwell Hall on Sunday, March 22.
