Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a Seymour man with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and render assistance, burglary and theft following a fatal collision in Yarck on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old man was arrested near the scene after an allegedly stolen Ford Ranger collided with a motorcycle on the Maroondah Hwy on May 8 about 4pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old Alexandra man, died at the scene.

The male driver allegedly dumped the Ford on a nearby street and fled on foot.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a hotel on Railway St in Euroa about 2.40pm on that same day.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
