Fourteen projects across the shire are set to receive funding through the Community Strengthening Grants Program, with a total of $161,724 to be awarded.
The grants have been awarded under delegation by the chief executive in line with council’s adopted 2025-26 community funding model, which was endorsed in April this year.
The model sets out to empower council in supporting local initiatives that strengthen communities, enhance livability and deliver long-term benefits across the shire.
Twenty-three applications were received across the two categories on offer, with more than $236,000 in funding requested.
Funding was exhausted with the 14 projects selected, with works such as solar and battery upgrades, sporting facility improvements, arts and heritage initiatives and community development activities to be supported by the grants.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Claire Ewart-Kennedy congratulated the recipients and thanked all applicants for their commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities.
“This program is about backing the great ideas, energy and commitment that already exist in our towns and communities,” Cr Ewart-Kennedy said.
“From investing in inclusive sporting spaces to supporting sustainability and local heritage, these grants reflect the diverse and inspiring work happening across the Strathbogie Shire.”
Grant recipients hail from across the shire, with a number of community groups and organisations in the region set to receive funding.
