Formed in July of 1993, the club was established in Seymour to provide retirees and semi-retirees with opportunities to meet new people and enjoy a wide range of activities.
Today, Probus is led by president Rodger Mansbridge, who says it continues to have the spirit of “friendship, fellowship and fun”.
On the third Tuesday of each month, members gather at the Senior Citizens Hall on Anzac Ave for a general meeting and cuppa.
They also go out to lunch or attend different sites around town.
“It’s for retired people who wish to attend a general meeting once a month,” Mr Mansbridge said.
“The club itself also goes out once a month for lunch or on a short tour.”
On Wednesday, August 26, the club was kept busy with a big day out in town.
“The club visited the Seymour Historical Society where the community came together to celebrate the launch of the book Pioneer Park, then visited the Seymour Club for lunch,” Mr Mansbridge said.
“After lunch, members visited the Vietnam Veterans (Commemorative Walk) for a guided tour by John Phoenix and Hank Kreemers.”
The club’s next general meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 15 at 10am at the Senior Citizens Hall.
Mr Mansbridge encourages anyone interested in joining to come along.
