The funding was auspiced by Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell, who has recently welcomed $130,000 for organisations across the electorate.
Part of the federal government’s Stronger Communities Grant Program, the funding aims to support communities with small infrastructure projects.
“While small, these grants will make a significant impact on our communities and help get long-awaited projects off the ground,” Mr Birrell said.
“These projects address a wide range of community needs and will support increased participation in our communities.”
The Australian Light Horse Memorial Park Committee is set to receive $15,000 for the construction of an all abilities access ramp into the historic horse transport carriage from 1891, which was donated to the committee by the army in 2021.
Chairman Scott McKay said the funding would be useful in delivering the much-needed project.
“It was Sam Birrell’s office who organised and got the whole thing rolling,” Mr McKay said.
“The project is important for the visitors to the park so that they have access to this historic asset.”
Fourteen community organisations across the electorate have been awarded up to $20,000 as part of the grant program, including $3000 for Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria and $20,000 for the Reedy Creek Progress Association.
