The show, which was to return after a two-year COVID-19 lockdown enforced hiatus, was cancelled on Monday, October 17 — a mere six days out from the big day.
At the Cobram Showgrounds on Monday, October 27 there were a handful of trucks, some with sideshow rides on their trailers giving a sad indication of what could have been.
Show president Jodie Wilson deeply regretted the disappointment the cancellation would have inevitably caused, but said the safety of everyone was the number one priority.
“Our concern was that the Cobram area was forecasted to have large rainfall before and during the show period which would have impacted the showgrounds to an unacceptable degree,” Mrs Wilson said.
Due to recent flooding within the Goulburn Valley area a lot of exhibitors and other participants, as well as attendees, would have also been unable to be there for the two-day event.

However, despite the show not being what organisers hoped it would be, the traditional pavilion exhibitions are still being held with the usual favourites including arts and hobbies, school sections, produce, cooking, photography and LEGO still going ahead.
Show organisers will continue taking entries for the categories up until Thursday, October 20 with judging set to be on Friday, October 21.
The pavilion exhibitions will be open to the public from 10am to 3pm on the Saturday and Sunday that the show would have been on.
However, the determination to have the traditional Cobram Agricultural Show is still strong and Mrs Wilson said the show would go on next year.
“Regardless of the circumstances that we have found ourselves in this year, the committee will start preparing to make the 2023 Cobram show bigger and better than ever,” Mrs Wilson said.
