Works are well under way on the Shepparton Line upgrades, with the 45-day shutdown of V/Line train services already upon us.
The shutdown began late-October and is scheduled to end mid-December, with coaches replacing trains on sections of the Seymour and Shepparton lines.
Replacement coaches are scheduled to operate:
- Between Seymour and Shepparton from Sunday, November 2 to Saturday, November 15;
- Between Southern Cross Station, Seymour and Shepparton from Sunday, November 16 to Tuesday, December 9, and;
- Between Seymour and Shepparton from Wednesday, December 10 to Sunday, December 14.
During this time, crews will install cabling and trackside signalling equipment between Seymour and Shepparton, conduct safety testing of new infrastructure and conduct driver training to bring the new signalling system into operation.
Following the disruption, works on the Shepparton Line Upgrade will be complete; the objective being to create capacity for more services to operate between Shepparton and Melbourne each day.
The Department of Transport and Planning advises passengers to allow up to 75 minutes extra travel time for their journeys.
Replacement coaches will be a mix of express, semi-express and stopping at all stations services, and will not stop at Essendon Station.
