“All too often, NSW politics is centred on Sydney and while the people of Sydney are vitally important, so too are the people of regional NSW,” Mr Clancy said.
“I look forward to working collaboratively with Members across both metropolitan and regional electorates to champion the needs of all our communities and ensure that regional NSW continues to receive the focus it deserves.”
Vaucluse MP Kellie Sloane was elected leader in this morning’s party room ballot after former leader, Mark Speakman resigned after weeks of speculation.
Upper House leader, Natalie Ward retained her position as Deputy Opposition Leader forming the party’s first all-female leadership team.
Mr Clancy congratulated Kellie Sloane on her election saying she brings energy, purpose and a strong commitment to delivering a positive vision for the state.
“I look forward to working closely with her as we continue to hold the Government to account and advocate for the people of New South Wales,” he said.
“I am honoured to have been elected unopposed by my colleagues to serve as Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
“It is a responsibility I take seriously, and I am grateful for the confidence placed in me by our parliamentary team.”
