Renewable energy developer, Infigen has managed the construction phase of the project and will manage the wind farms operations phase for John Laing. Infigen will also purchase the electricity that the wind farm generates.
The expected annual electrical output from the 57.6MW wind farm will power 37,000 average Victorian households and avoid the emission of 200,000 tonnes of CO2e annually.
John Laing’s Asia Pacific regional managing director Justin Bailey said he was pleased to see Cherry Tree Wind Farm reach the end of the construction phase.
“It is generating at full capacity delivering green energy to Victorian communities,” he said.
“We are grateful for the continued support from Infigen and Vestas and the local community.”
With the completion of the construction phase of the project, Infigen and John Laing are announced they have established a Community Benefit Fund (CBF) on behalf of Cherry Tree Wind Farm that will make $25,000 available to the local community.
The priority focus areas of the CBF are; education and training, community development, health and wellbeing, and environment.
