Kyabram figures suggest the area, which includes the communities of Tongala, Girgarre and Koyuga — but stops before Stanhope and Merrigum —has 1457 people suffering from arthritis.
That represents 13.1 per cent, more than five per cent more than the state average.
While not as prevalent, the number of Kyabram people suffering long-term from asthma is two per cent greater than the national average.
Figures from the 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics Census were released late last month.
There are almost 5000 people (4932) in Campaspe shire suffering from long term arthitis issues. That represents 12.7 per cent of the 38,735 residents that were surveyed on census night.
The national average, in relation to arthritis is 8.5 per cent and in Victoria it is even lower.
Mental health conditions were uncovered in 10.1 per cent of the population (3930 people), almost two per cent more than the national average.
Heart disease, diabetes and cancer statistics also showed Campaspe averages were in excess of the national figures.
Kyabram area household income is far lower to that of the state and national average, although rental costs in Kyabram are well below those same averages.
The median rent in Kyabram is $210, compared with a national figure of $370.
In regard to income, the average Kyabram worker is earning $650, which is $150 less than the national average.
Household income in Kyabram is $1230, compared with $1750 in Victoria.
Of the 59.6 per cent of people who indicated they follow a religion, seven per cent of the population indicated on census night they attended the Uniting church, double the national average.
Kyabram area’s Catholic education numbers were also significantly higher than the national average — the presence of St Augustine’s College and St Patrick’s primary school influencing those numbers.
At primary level the area has 12 per cent of its primary schoolers attending a Catholic school, compared with five per cent at national level. The figure is also double at secondary level, with 10 per cent of students attending a Catholic school in Kyabram.
