Celebrating 100 days of Kindy

The district’s youngest primary school students were given the freedom to travel through time over the past week.

To celebrate their first 100 days as ‘big school’ students, some local schools hosted special activities.

At St Michael’s Primary School, the Kindergarten students dressed up as senior citizens to celebrate the momentous ocassion.

Throughout the day the students participated in what might be considered typical “elderly activates”, including a picnic and a lovely afternoon walk.

One of the walks took the children to the historic Warriston Ram Shed at the Peppin Heritage Centre.

Over at Mayrung Public School, the celebrations melded nicely with 2023 being the 175th anniversary of public education in NSW.

The milestone formed the theme for Education Week activities this year, with some schools extending the celebrations beyond the set week in July.

Mayrung students were encouraged to dress in what they thought school uniforms looked like 100 years ago.

During the day the students got to play old-fashioned games, which included the ring toss and jumping rope.

Some students were also given the opportunity to make their own butter.
