The caravan and RV road safety campaign launched recently in anticipation of a swell of domestic camping road trips this summer, with more than three million camping trips expected to be taken in the coming months.
The November and December education awareness campaign will prepare Greater Shepparton residents to safely enjoy their holidays on the road, providing daily road safety information on pre-planning trips to manage fatigue, the use of rest stops, vehicle preparation, sharing the road with trucks, and communication and towing.
Caravan Industry Association of Australia’s marketing and communications head Keelan Howard said safety was always important, but extra measures would be particularly vital this summer with an expected surge of travellers.
‘‘With over 741,000 registered RVs in Australia and additional interest from first-timers due to COVID-19 preventing international holidaying, now is a crucial time to put this messaging front of mind,’’ he said.
The campaign is free to access in digital and print handbooks, with videos and online quizzes shared across email, social media and online platforms.
