Free breast screens will be available for women aged 50 to 74 years old from Monday, September 26 to Thursday, December 1 at the Seymour Woolworths car park on the corner of Williams and Wallis streets.
Women aged 50 to 74 are in the age bracket with the highest risk of developing the disease.
Regular screening is the best way to find breast cancer early before there are symptoms present.
Treatment is most likely to be successful when breast cancer is detected early.
Through early detection, BreastScreen Victoria aims to reduce the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis and improve health outcomes for women and their families.
It takes just 10 minutes. There’s no need for a doctor’s referral or a Medicare card.
BreastScreen Victoria chief executive Rita Butera encourages eligible people to access the potentially life-saving travelling vans.
“The vans use the same high-quality digital radiography machines as our permanent clinics, so everyone can get the best possible care, wherever they live,” Ms Butera said.
