In a town with many worthy candidates, the nominations are officially open for the Rochester and District Australia Day Awards.
Diligently organised by Heather Watson, the categories for 2025 are:
- Rochester Citizen of the Year;
- Young Citizen of the Year;
- Sports Person of the Year;
- Junior Sports Person of the Year;
- Community Group of the Year; and
- Arts Person or Group of the Year
Nominations include supporting materials of the individual or organisation’s work from the previous year.
Further opportunities to honour a community member or group are through the achievement and appreciation awards.
These acknowledge contributions that go the extra step for the betterment of the town.
Entries are due by Friday, January 2 and can be submitted in-person at 80 Pascoe St, Rochester or by email to ghwatson1@bigpond.com
