Agricultural society sees change

New leaders: Meet the new executive of the Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society, Pam Beerens, Brenda Page, Vivian Beaumont, Anne Davidson and Cherie Matthews.

Jason Ronald has retired from the executive of the Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society after eight years of dedicated service leading the society.

At its recent annual general meeting, Anne Davidson became just the third female president in the society’s 165-year history.

She had been vice-president for three years before taking the role.

Life member Vivian Beaumont accepted the nomination for vice-president, while Cherie Matthews is the second vice-president.

New council member Brenda Page is the new treasurer, while Pam Beerens was re-appointed as secretary for another 12 months.

Life memberships went to Mr Ronald and Denis Leahy.

Mr Ronald was acknowledged for his time as president and his achievements.

Mr Leahy was acknowledged for his time with the society, particularly the time he has given to the Working Sheep Dog Trials.

All members look forward to working with the new executive.

Organising and running the 2023 Seymour Show in October following the success of the 2022 show and challenges brought on by the floods is making for an interesting year.

For those wishing to volunteer to assist with the running of the 2023 show, there are a number of roles available, from helping set up and pack down to assisting on the day.
