Mr Lawrence, 27, won the award from a strong field of young achievers who were announced on April 16 at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, hosted by 7NEWS presenter Melina Sarris.
Mr Lawrence is the co-founder and chief executive of Mobble, a livestock farm management software business that enables better decisions for agriculture by improving the way farmers record, utilise and communicate data.
When Mr Lawrence and his father were attempting to digitise their on-farm records, the software they trialed was either too clunky, over-complicated or angled towards intensive farming.
In a bid to find the most suitable software for the family farm, Mr Lawrence started Mobble with best mate Jack Hurley.
Mobble is the latest farm and livestock management software intended to strip back complications and put a focus on connection and simplicity.
It thrives on farmer feedback, and Mr Lawrence personally goes to farms to ask farmers about their biggest pain points in managing their operation.
Their team of six is hired locally and Mobble has been accepted into the Melbourne Accelerator Program and SproutX.
A finalist in the Prime Super Agricultural Innovation Award, Mobble now has hundreds of users in Australia and New Zealand.
Winners each received $2000 in prizes, consisting of a $1000 Coles Group and Myer gift card from Wheelton Philanthropy and Budget Rent A Car, plus $500 in Qoin and $500 cash, along with a trophy.
“It’s such an honour to be up here. This award means a lot. It’s much more than just me, it’s for the Mobble team and all the farmers who have supported us through the years,” Mr Lawrence said.
“The farmers are the reason we get out of bed every day. I’m super proud of this team and their commitment to our vision of making life easier for farmers and simplifying farm management.
“A special thanks must go to Jack Hurley, who co-founded Mobble with me almost three years ago, and the rest of the Mobble team.
“I also would love to thank my beautiful girlfriend Gill, who has been through all the ups and downs with me of starting a new business.
“I want to thank my most fierce supporter, my grandma, my parents and my two brothers, who are based on the family farm near Avenel.
‘Without them, the idea behind Mobble would have never been realised.”
