It has been running for three years, meeting on a monthly basis at the Broadford Living and Learning Centre, discussing and organising the ways to best assist chosen projects.
Zonta is an international, not-for-profit organisation which works to improve the lives of women and girls at a local, national and global level.
Member Robin Audehm said during isolation the club had continued its work by meeting online.
“We have assembled 200 birthing kits for Birthing Kit Australia, which are then sent on to Third World countries, as well as sewing and filling toiletry bags and breast cushions,” she said.
“Our local work has also included being involved with the Mitchell Shire during the 16 days of activism against family violence.
“In November 2019 we held our inaugural community art and craft show. We were very proud of the support we received during that weekend and once again thank all who attended.”
Ms Audehm said since that date the club had been able to allocate the proceeds to various local organisations.
“Love In Action Broadford and Wallan have received monetary donations, toiletry bags and grocery items,” she said.
“Kilmore and Seymour hospitals, local medical centres and maternal health centres will receive toiletry bags for vulnerable women and breast cushions to assist women who have undergone breast surgery. Donations of money, sanitary items and deodorant for these are always welcome.
“We are currently investigating awards that will acknowledge the strengths and talents of local girls.”
