The event was an opening for a huge year of shows that will give emerging artists valuable stage time and experience in front of a live audience.
Cherri Anderson, Sage Roadknight and rock, indie and pop three-piece Madoja (Max and Doug Hooper and James Hardman) entertained the crowd with their original compositions.
The sessions’ pop-up recording studio last year gave some of the best and brightest musicians in Mitchell Shire a chance to record their music their way before each track was shared with Universal Music Group, an opportunity which could open doors for local talent.
Residents aged between 12 and 24 were given the chance to excel in their craft without stress as drums, keys, bass and electric guitars were all provided.
The first Montville Lane Sessions – Live sold out and was held at Hedge Farm Carlsruhe on January 5. It saw 18 emerging artists performing original tunes.
A massive 18 627 people were reached via the Montville Lane Sessions Facebook page and there were 10 055 YouTube impressions across all MLS Live YouTube channel artist video clips.
All artists from the event were featured live on air thanks to Callum Watson’s Magical Mystery Tour Show on Seymour FM 103.9.
Professional producer and engineer David Blake worked directly with the artists to nurture their sound and give them a platform.
Cherri Anderson said the importance of the opportunity provided by Montville Lane Sessions was hard to overstate.
“This type of exposure is priceless and career defining,” she said.
“Each artist can dare to live the dream of being on stage, in a studio, having a video clip and being heard around the world.
“Shires like Mitchell have an amazing range of young, creative and highly talented musicians champing at the bit to be heard and seen.
“The best part about it is we all get to perform our own original music, live on stage in a professional venue and we even get paid.”
