The program provides people with access to comprehensive survivorship education, exercise and wellness programs over eight weeks commencing on October 30.
The third series of the Cancer Council Victoria program will be available for individuals who may have missed the opportunity earlier in the year to participate in the highly successful program.
The free program is designed for those moving from clinical treatment to survivorship.
It provides information, individually tailored exercise programs from a qualified physiotherapist within a group setting and practical strategies for participants to assist with managing life now.
The program was successfully delivered across the Hume region in 2018 and 2019 and the next program will commence at Seymour Health this month.
On average each year, 221 people in the Mitchell Shire are diagnosed with cancer.
Former program participant Dorothy Somerville was very positive about the benefits of completing the program.
“The program was fantastic and motivated me to get out and do more. I am doing more exercise than I have done for 20 years,” she said.
Cheryl Stephens who also completed the program earlier in the year was equally enthusiastic.
“The program has been a great opportunity to meet others with similar problems and get back into exercise,” she said.
