Teen charged with murder over stabbing

The man died of his injuries at the scene.

Acting Detective Inspector Phil Hurst said the man was an associate of the teenager's mother. 

The family has lived at the rented home for about six months, and police have not previously been called to the address. 

"The incident is still under investigation ... what we do know is there's been some sort of physical altercation where this person has received those injuries," Insp Hurst said 

"When young people arm themselves with knives, there can be tragic outcomes, and we've seen that again today where a person's lost their life."

The teenage has since been charged with murder and is due to appear in Maroochydore Children's Court.
