Owners Andrew and Lisa Mclean said they artificially inseminate 300 cows and implant 100 embryos to constantly drive the female herd forward.
They said they loved breeding cows at their property at Hansonville, in Victoria’s north-east, and know “all the girls personally”.
The McLeans recently bought a bull in New Zealand from Meadowslea Genetics, that specialises in low birth weight and early gestation, as well as genuine do-ability.
They also have a strong affiliation with Taimate Angus in NZ, particularly the influential bull Lazurus L12.
The infusion of NZ genetics is proving to be a winner, with type, growth and carcase all coming together in the Jade Park Angus herd.
A holistic approach to sustainable pasture/paddock management underpins their feeding program, which sees them feed all their animals with silage and hay cut on the farm.
