My favourite memories are show and tell each morning, which looking back made a great platform to learn how to do public speaking without knowing it.
Playing marbles at recess, where some kids would throw in mars bars instead of marbles.
Miss Wilson was my favourite teacher and the highlight was when she got married to Mr Stedman.
It was so exciting for us little preppies to see her in her wedding dress.
Mr Hammond, our principal, stood guard with his shotgun one day.
We had a rogue magpie that kept splitting heads open.
He soon fixed the problem. He was our hero.
The pet parade was a standout, we were allowed to take our pets to parade them around.
Mrs Stedman’s dog peed on Dad’s leg.
Someone’s pony took off causing havoc.
Dogs had a few fights.
My horse Betty was a very good girl. It was great fun.
Mr Watts was a great, fun teacher and I will never forget the massive (organised) water fight we had one summer day.
Everyone was in bathers and Mr Watts came out in snorkel and flippers.
Everyone bombarded him.
The very special thing about primary school was that I was there with my sister and two brothers.
We had one year we were all together and we were known as the Sorraghan tribe.
I loved the feeling of having them with me.
Sports was a big thing for me in primary school and I loved all sports.
We were a very active school and the inter-school athletics carnival was my favourite time of year. I loved running.
In Grade 6, Mark Healey and I won the medals for the best performed. It was the first time a girl and boy from the same school had won them together.
I have many wonderful friends from primary school days and we all have good memories.
My kids have gone to Kialla West and so have my niece and nephews.
It was a bit like the Sorraghan tribe again.
