There are many elements that contribute to winning a game of football, but of course, when it’s all said and done, the most important factor is being able to put the ball through the big sticks.

So which team in Goulburn Valley League has been the best at it this season?

Which side has not only scored the most goals, but has also been the most accurate?

With 10 rounds played top side Echuca is leading the way on the scoring front.

The Murray Bombers have the highest total score this season (1044 points), kicked the most goals (156), had the most scoring shots (246) and boast the best goal-kicking accuracy in the competition (63.41 per cent) – small wonder they are sitting on top of the ladder.

Seymour and Kyabram come next on the scoring front – the Lions rank second in total score (924), goals (136) and scoring shots (230), ahead of the Bombers in third (902 total points, 130 goals and 220 scoring shots).

But when it comes to kicking accuracy the pair ranks behind Mooroopna, which has the second best conversion rate at 62.5 per cent.

The Cats have kicked 115 goals 69 behinds as a team and alongside the Murray Bombers, are the only side shooting at better than 60 per cent accuracy.

Euroa has the lowest total score of any of the top-six sides (781 points) and the second fewest scoring shots behind Mooroopna, but its accuracty rate of 59.47 per cent is the third best in the league.

Seymour (59.13 per cent) and Kyabram (58.56 per cent) rank fourth and fifth for accuracy, with a surprising team rounding out the top six.

Bottom side Rochester has the fewest scoring shots of any team (130) and is second-to-last in total points scored (550), but is in the top half with an accuracy of 58.46 per cent.

Shepparton Swans are the most wayward side in front of goals, with their 50.66 conversion percentage (77 goals 75 behinds) the lowest in the league.

On an individual level, of the top 20 goal-kickers across the league, Echuca’s Corbin Anderson (20.5) and Kyabram’s Brad Mangan (16.4) have the best conversion rate at 80 per cent.

Mooroopna’s Chris Nield (26.15) is third at 74 per cent.
