Like the Wright brothers in 1903, Euroa’s Ben and Adam Giobbi took flight on Saturday afternoon.
Helping the Magpies soar past Kyabram into the next round of the Goulburn Valley League finals, the Giobbi brothers put in two quality performances at the weekend and thanks to the power of GVL Data their impact on the contest is clear to see.
For Ben, Saturday’s spell at Tatura Park continued an impressive season, with the number five racking up 27 disposals, including 12 contested possessions and nine inside 50s.
The solid showing included a jaw-dropping 70m torpedo goal described by onlookers “eye-watering.”
Yet while Ben stole the headlines, his brother Adam played a key role in keeping the Bombers’ forwards out.
Adam Giobbi made half-back his own on Saturday, relieving his side of pressure throughout the contest.
The defender drummed up 23 disposals, eight rebound 50s, five marks and four ground ball gets for his defensive efforts.
With a game against Echuca pencilled in this weekend and a spot in the grand final on the line, it is clear how the Giobbis perform will play a key role in Euroa’s premiership tilt.
