Hot start: Euroa got on top around the contest early on in Sunday’s preliminary final win over Mansfield.

The first quarter of Sunday’s preliminary final clash between Euroa and Mansfield had just about everything.

A flurry of goals, impressive marks and a freak storm that forced the game to be suspended all inside the first 30 minutes of action.

Before Euroa would go on to win the contest by four goals and book its first Goulburn Valley League grand final appearance in 17 years, the Magpies dominated the first term against the Eagles.

And thanks to GVL Data we can highlight the powerful display by the Magpies at Deakin Reserve.

Forward maestro Jett Trotter led the charge after coach Scott Rowan threw the magnets around and placed the star talent in the midfield.

Trotter went on to have five touches, four clearances and two inside 50s before he finished with 11 disposals and a goal.

Gun on-baller Ben Giobbi had seven disposals and two clearances, while hard nut midfielder Jack Hellier chipped in with six touches, two clearances and four tackles.

Forwards Erish Uthayakumar and Nathan Stewart helped play a role with two goals each.

The antics of those key performers went a long way in ensuring the Magpies got on top in the contest.

Euroa smashed the Eagles at the coalface with 17 clearances, 37 contested possessions and 23 tackles, which helped the Magpies chalk up 14 inside 50 entries.
