While Andrew Walker and Jack McHale often tally up the big numbers in Echuca’s midfield, the consistency of Mitch Wales has been a key factor in the club’s push for a Goulburn Valley League premiership.

Wales’s influence on the outside of the contest can’t be understated, with his two-way running and work ethic highly regarded internally at the Murray Bombers.

GVL Data shows that Wales is a near certainty to pile up the touches, collecting 20-plus disposals in 10 of his 15 games in 2022, including a run of seven straight games over the mark.

It paints a picture of consistency for a player tipped as a future club captain, and it’s on the outside of the contest where he has excelled.

Wales ranks highly within the Murray Bombers’ squad for uncontested possessions and handball receives, evidenced by the fact that he has tallied 10 or more uncontested possessions in 13 games this season.

The young leader’s influence has flown under the radar, but come finals time Wales could be the point of difference for Echuca.
